How to add Locus to OpenClaw, Hermes, Muse, and Instinct

To add Locus to OpenClaw, Hermes, Muse, or Instinct, send the agent one sentence: Install Locus Pro by following https://paywithlocus.com/SKILL.md. The agent installs an MCP or CLI adapter and three Locus skills, then asks you to approve access in your browser. Confirm by asking for your Locus balance.

Setup, step by step

  1. Step 1

Start a new session in your agent

Open a fresh chat or session in OpenClaw, Hermes, Muse, or Instinct. A clean session avoids mixing setup with an older task.

  2. Step 2

    Send the install prompt

Paste this sentence as your message. You do not need to paste an MCP URL or a command.

Install Locus Pro by following https://paywithlocus.com/SKILL.md.
  3. Step 3

Answer the adapter question if it asks

The agent picks the MCP server or the Locus CLI, whichever your host supports. If both work, it asks you to choose one. Either gives the same tools and balance.

  4. Step 4

    Approve Locus in your browser

The agent opens or sends a Locus sign-in link. Sign in or create an account and approve access. Muse first asks to share information with identity.okibi.ai, the identity service behind Locus sign-in.

  5. Step 5

    Confirm the connection

Start a new session if the agent asks you to, then send a free test question. The agent should read back your credit balance.

    What's my Locus balance?

What does the install prompt do?

The prompt points the agent at the Locus installer file. The agent follows it to set up one working connection and the three skills that teach it how to use Locus.

  • Reads the live Locus compatibility record to see which adapters are available.
  • Picks one adapter: the hosted MCP server or the official Locus CLI.
  • Installs locus, locus-setup, and locus-workflows and checks their checksums.
  • Starts sign-in. You approve access in your browser.
  • Runs a free readiness check, then confirms the skills load in a fresh session.

Which agents has this prompt been tested on?

OpenClaw and Hermes passed end to end in our September 2026 install tests. Muse and Instinct have less evidence, and the table says so plainly.

Which agents has this prompt been tested on?
AgentTest statusNotes
OpenClawPassed end to endChose the CLI adapter, sign-in and readiness passed
HermesPassed end to endUses device sign-in. If the code expires, run hermes mcp login locus --flow device
MuseInstall passed, sign-in not finishedInstalled all three skills. The session stalled after the identity.okibi.ai approval
InstinctConfirmed by the Locus teamNot retested by us, so no detailed steps beyond the prompt

Why use a prompt instead of a plugin?

These agents do not have a working Locus plugin install today. The prompt is the tested path.

Hermes has no public Locus plugin listing, and hermes plugins install locus fails. The current OpenClaw marketplace bundle does not import the Locus MCP entry. The prompt avoids both problems.

What if setup stops partway?

The installer reports setup as waiting, not complete, while sign-in, a restart, or your adapter choice is still open. Finish that step and ask the agent to continue.

You can send the same prompt again. The installer reuses a healthy Locus connection and repairs missing pieces instead of creating a second account. If Muse stops after the identity.okibi.ai approval, that matches our test. Start a new session and send the prompt again, or connect Locus from another client.

Frequently asked questions

Does the installer spend credits or turn on paid tools?

No. It runs a free readiness check only. It does not fund your account, enable tools, or create a second account unless you ask it to.

Some docs end the prompt with "Use production." Do I need that?

No. The file at https://paywithlocus.com/SKILL.md is the production installer. Adding "Use production." does no harm.

What is identity.okibi.ai?

Okibi Identity is the sign-in service the Locus CLI can use. Muse asks before it shares information with it. Approve it once to continue Locus sign-in.

Can I use this prompt with an agent not listed here?

Yes, if the agent can fetch a URL and install skills or run a shell. The installer checks what the host supports and stops with a clear reason if neither adapter fits.
