Composio alternatives: Arcade, Pipedream and Locus Pro
The main Composio alternatives are Arcade and Pipedream Connect. Both connect agents to users’ own SaaS accounts through OAuth. Smithery, an MCP server registry, is now part of Arcade. Locus Pro does a different job. It pays for third-party data APIs from one prepaid balance, so it works alongside Composio rather than replacing it.
What does each Composio alternative do?
Composio, Arcade and Pipedream Connect let an agent act inside accounts your users already have, like Gmail, Slack or GitHub. Smithery helps you find and host MCP servers. Locus Pro gives an agent paid APIs it has no account for. Prices come from each vendor’s site on September 29, 2026.
| Tool | Job | Pricing model |
|---|---|---|
| Composio | OAuth connected accounts, sessions and tool discovery for agents, over SDK or MCP | Hobby is free with 100,000 tool calls a month. Pro is $29 a month with $29 of usage, then $0.0003 per tool call. Premium tools on Composio-hosted credentials bill at provider cost plus 5%. |
| Arcade | OAuth and user token handling with per-action authorization. 7,500+ tools across 81 MCP servers. | Free: 2,000 tool calls and 2,000 auth events a month. Team: $25 a month plus $0.01 per tool call and $0.10 per auth event. |
| Pipedream Connect | Managed auth for your users across 3,000+ APIs, and an MCP server with 10,000+ tools | Free in development mode. Production usage is priced on Pipedream’s pricing page. |
| Smithery | Public registry and hosting for MCP servers. Arcade announced the acquisition on August 5, 2026. | See smithery.ai |
| Locus Pro | One account and prepaid balance for thousands of paid APIs, such as search, scraping, enrichment and inference. No provider keys. | Free plan with no subscription. Each call bills its listed price in credits. 1,000 credits equal $1. |
How are OAuth connectors different from paid APIs?
An OAuth connector acts for a user in an account that user already owns. When an agent sends email through Composio, it uses the user’s Gmail with the user’s consent.
A paid API sells data the user has no account for. When an agent finds a work email through Locus Pro, Locus holds the Hunter account and bills the lookup to your balance. The price shows before the call.
Locus Pro does not connect to a user’s Gmail, Slack or other personal accounts. If your agent needs both kinds of access, use both tools.
When should I pick Composio, Arcade or Pipedream Connect?
Pick one of these when your agent must read or write in your users’ own apps. The differences are in pricing, catalog and governance.
- Composio: a large free tier of tool calls, and sessions that bind a user to their connected accounts.
- Arcade: per-action authorization inside your identity and compliance policies, plus the Smithery registry.
- Pipedream Connect: 3,000+ APIs with managed auth, and workflows if you also need automation.
When is Locus Pro the right fit?
Pick Locus Pro when the agent needs data or services from providers you have no account with. Examples include web search, scraping, contact enrichment, SERP data and model inference.
The agent pays per call from one balance. You set spending controls instead of managing a key and a plan for each provider. Connect through the hosted MCP server at https://api.paywithlocus.com/api/credits/mcp, the CLI or the API.
Can an agent use Composio and Locus Pro together?
Yes. Both work over MCP, so you add both servers to the same agent. A sales agent can find a lead’s email through Locus Pro and then draft the message in the user’s Gmail through Composio.
Frequently asked questions
Is Locus Pro a Composio alternative?
Only for paid data APIs. Locus Pro does not broker OAuth access to a user’s own apps. For that, use Composio, Arcade or Pipedream Connect.
Is Smithery still available?
Yes. Arcade announced on August 5, 2026 that Smithery joined Arcade, and the Smithery registry is still online at smithery.ai.
Which option charges per tool call?
Composio and Arcade meter tool calls. Composio Pro charges $0.0003 per call after the included usage, and Arcade Team charges $0.01. Locus Pro charges the listed price of each API call instead of a platform fee per call.
How do I add Locus Pro to an agent that already uses Composio?
Tell the agent: Install Locus Pro by following https://paywithlocus.com/SKILL.md. It adds the Locus MCP server next to your existing ones.
